Biography

I am a data scientist with expertise defect detection and prediction. I got my Ph.D. in signal processing-based feature extraction (see my thesis). I worked on different research and industrial projects related to signal/image processing, computer vision, feature extraction, optimization, and statistical modeling.

MTO-HIIFP Funding Grant

Together with Prof. Khalid Elgazzar and my advisor Prof. Hossam A. Gabbar, we have been awarded the Highway Infrastructure Innovations Funding Program (HIIFP) from the Ministry Of Transportation of Ontario (MTO).

KAUST AI-INITIATIVE Funding Grant

Together with Dr. Ibrahima N’doye, my advisor Prof Meriem laleg, Prof. Bernard Ghanem, and Prof. Micheal Berumen’s, we have been awarded the AI initiative Grant from KAUST (50K USD). In this project, we propose to implement a computer vision-based approach for the studying fish behavior and feeding back to the control and monitoring system.

Impact Acceleration Funding Grant

Together with, my advisor Prof Meriem laleg, Prof. Turky Nayef Alotaiby (KACST), and Prof. Saleh Alshebeili (KSU) in collaboration with King Fahad Medical City (KFMC), we have been awarded an Impact Acceleration Grant from KAUST (100K USD).

Recent Patents

Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Water Suppression Method and Device

We developed a signal reconstruction method, called SCSA, for pulse-shaped signal decomposition. After the decomposition, the reconstructioned signal will be composed of weighted sum of squared eigen-functions waveform of the Schrodinger operator. This method can also be used for signal denoising.

Feature generation based on eigenfunctions of the schrödinger operator

We developed a Feature extraction method, called SCSA, for pulse-shaped signal. It used the dimnesionality reduction principle based on Schrödinger operator.

HAIS: Highways Automated-Inspection System

We designed amnd implemened a datalogger to screen the road using camera and vibrations sensors. The collected data is used to train deep leargning models for defect road inspection model for automated defect inspection using a combination of image processing and deep learning models.

CTIMS: Automated Defect Detection Framework Using Computed Tomography

We developed hybrid model for automated defect inspection using a combination of image processing and deep learning models.

Improving Hand Gesture Recognition

New Feature extraction method based on the Quantization-based position Weight Matrix (QuPWM) method designed explicitly for multiclass classification on biomedical signals.

  • Design assisted and semi-automated image annotation using Napari and VGG Image Annotator (VIA)

  • prototype a Jetson Nano based system to collect sensor data and control feeding for Tilapia fish aquarium.
  • Manual data cleaning, preparation and annotation of the collected underwater camera images using LabelMe
  • Design online visualization and monitoring, using Grafana, of the feeding process, fish growth, and fish health
  • Design an object detection model to assess the fish health diagnosis. Implement a real-time optimal feeding strategy

  • Design and implement an electrical arc fault detection algorithm based on an active filter
  • implement an FFT-based detection algorithm using spectral and statistical indicators (features)
